Final Score: KR 3-2 KE

You might be thinking how sad that we lost for the Tennis semi-finals, but be comforted. The Score line does not tell the whole story: the Girls of our hall tennis team had the upper hand for the most of the time.

On the first day our team was off to a glorious start. For the first Singles, Lin Qian Geraldine, on of our hall’s most promising player, was pitted against a tough opponent from KR. In the very first game itself, she broke the serve of the KR girl.

The rest of the set was marked by some amazing serves and backhands, which ensured that she came out as the winner of the set with a score of 6-1.

In the second set, the KR player found her rhythm and made it difficult for Geraldine to gain easy points.

Geraldine’s aces were pretty impressive in this set, and after some dazzling display of stroke play, she finally finished the match with 6-4.

So the first match was ours by 6-1,6-4.

The Second Singles of the day saw Ang Siok Hoon, Sheryl of our hall pitted against a tricky opponent from KR named Yenny. First set proved to be quite a spectacle with both players matching each other for every point. Finally the set went into a tie breaker and our hall came up 7-6 from a very hard fought set. KEVII dominated the second set thoroughly, finally bagging the set 6-0 and with it the match.

Meanwhile unfortunately a heavy downpour started and the matches were postponed to the next day.

On the Next Day

Our Tennis Captain, Foo Wei Tse, and Tan Wen Yan were playing against Jingxian and Yunwen of KR hall.

Sun Yu Ting and Kimberley Ang were set against Pearline and Hailin in the second doubles.

As for Foo Fang Chee, she was playing for the third singles against Shanny Tan from KR. The doubles were sadly easily won by Kent Ridge Hall .In the first doubles match we lost out 6-1,6-1.while in the second one we went down 6-1,6-0.

Everything was now up to the last match, the third singles between Fang Chee and Shanny.

Fang Chee came out all guns blazing taking the first set 6-2. In the second set she was up by 3-0 but the KR girls fought back, and soon the difficulty of the match started to weigh on our player. An exhausted Fang Chee fought hard but finally gave in, and KR took the set 6-3. .In the end, Fang Chee lost the set 6-1 and KE’s dream run in this year’s IHG Tennis came to a cruel end.

But it is obvious that the Girls of our Tennis Team have done a commendable job by fighting so hard against the defending champions and almost made the KE dream come true.

So despite the results of this year’s IHG, let’s not stop dreaming of the GLORY!
