Despite being forced to postpone the netball and touch rugby competitions of the Inter-Block Games due to the torrential rain on Friday night, the players were undaunted, and gathered once again on Monday at the Communal Hall for their final chance to make a difference on the scoreboard! At the end of the competition, F Block emerged victorious and secured the champion position for both Touch Rugby and Netball!
The IBG Closing Ceremony followed at the Dining hall after the Netball match. There, championship certificates were given out to various blocks. The atmosphere of KEviians rose after every champion block was announced! No one can get enough of cheering for their blocks! Surprisingly, the biggest winner of this year’s IBG was CD block, attaining the championship title for a very impressive 7 out of the 13 sports played in IBG! At the closing ceremony, the united spirit of every KEviian was evident as they cheered their blocks on, and we congratulate everyone on a truly magnificent display of sportsmanship and team-effort at this year’s IBG!
Next, Qing Song gave his final speech as the 53rd JCRC President. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end – And with that, the 53rd JCRC, which will be remembered by KEviians for their efforts in their drive to improve the welfare for KEviians, stepped down, and 54th JCRC was officially initiated. This was marked by a speech by the new president, Lim Sien Long, in which he introduced his team of leaders, including three new additions – Deborah Khoo will be be the new Publications Secretary, Louis Lim the Special Projects Secretary and Mitchell Yeo the Finance Secretary. All the best to the 54th JCRC as they continue to serve the hall in their various capacities! We are sure you will do us proud.
Then it was turn for our beloved Hall Master to give his speech. He officially thanked the efforts of all ROCKE members for the sacrifices made during the holidays. He also thanked the various hall leaders for their various accomplishments in the past year, and exhorted them to strive for even greater heights in the coming one. And with that, it was time to eat!
The attendance for the ROCKE supper was great with the entire Dining hall filled. It was a perfect time for freshmen to bond with their fellow blockmates as well as for the seniors to reminisce their wonderful times in KE.
The end of IBG and the ROCKE supper mark the conclusion of another chapter in this academic year. However, this is only the start – It is now time to look forward to the many new and exciting events the leaders of KE have planned for the rest of the year! We encourage everyone to participate fully in hall life and make full use of the many opportunities that are given to us in KEVII, and trust that you will find a very meaningful and fruitful year ahead!
