BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: A GH version!

Written by: Ho Kinh Dat

A narrative adopted from GH-block’s “Beauty and The Beast” game

Chaos and fun meld into a whole for GH Block!

Chaos and fun meld into a whole for GH Block!

Once upon a time, from GH village lived a beautiful young lady, who was named BEAUTY. On one fine day, Beauty was rambling through the forest without realizing that she had fallen within the sight of the BEAST. Her exquisiteness was such that he fell in love with her at first sight, but refused to reveal himself for fear of rejection due to his less-than-attractive appearance. However (and here we go against the canonical story everyone knows), he secretly expressed his affection for her on a daily basis. His secret love ranged from sneaking romantic letters into the ‘poke me’ tiny box outside her room to offering her goodie bags packed with delicious candies and crackers, etc. Beauty was greatly impressed and moved for days to come, and often pondered the question of who could be her Prince Charming.. Nevertheless, good times elapsed…

It was many years ago that Beast was under a wicked witch’s spell. Every Tuesday, upon the rise of the moon, he revealed his worst side of personality as being an uncontrollable, unpredictably furious “beast” (in the true sense of the word). He caused wanton destruction whenever and wherever he felt inclined to. Beast’s evil deeds such as throwing water bombs at a specific villager, showering his house with papaya milk shake, putting his shoes / clothes in horrible disorder and inflicting millions of unimaginably appalling acts on his property, enraging the villager to a great extent. Desirable as it seemed for the villager to kill the beast, he was nowhere to be found, since he had sneaked off into the dark amidst sinister laughter, leaving no trail behind. We called it The Beast Day.

The village was in a state of chaos the following day with much clearing up and swearing to do. Therefore, on Thursday, the so-called “Revenge-is-SweetDay, the villager attempted to hunt the Beast down and make sure justice was duly served! The story has been going on for a month, with much amusement and … of course, irritation as well. As time elapsed, BEAST was gradually “spiritually tamed” by his BEAUTY when she found out who he really was and released him from the spell with her love. Ever since then, the villager regained his peaceful life, and the story culminated in the GH village Tuesday supper with delicious food and considerable excitement from everyone. Since then, all have lived happily ever … ever … after!

- Special thanks to: Ng Jun Kiat (contributor) -

PS: The story was a journey of one typical GH resident during the game, and it occurred to almost every member of GH blocks. This 4-week game has presented the GH family with joys and a memorable experience. All in all, GH residents’ bonding was then intensified to a greater degree, leading to a harmonious mutual relationship in our new family - GH family, KE7 Hall.
